Partners Breakfast 2011

Since its inception DHDC has been fortunate to work with a range of corporate, community and educational partners committed to our mission and our goal to develop long-term relationships that create sustainable change in our communities rather than short-term visibility.

In our current economy, nonprofits are particularly challenged since financial support is decreasing at the same time that needs are rising. These forces call for us to improve our organizational capacity – to ensure that we are effective and efficient in accomplishing our mission, while being sustainable over time. Yet at the same time it is increasingly difficult to raise money for capacity building and infrastructure support. As a result, program grants which used to cover 97% of our operating costs, now only cover 26% of these critical expenses.

The Partners Breakfast was established in 2008 to give us the opportunity to publicly recognize the tremendous contributions of our partners throughout the year. At this year’s breakfast we will celebrate a wide range of partner support—new and existing–that has helped us to grow and sustain ourselves in this difficult economic climate.

At DHDC we believe “the strongest part of sponsorship is its ability to build and enhance relationships” and we acknowledge our partners’ contributions throughout the year in many ways.
