A Path Toward Healing, Stability, and Opportunity
Thrive Detroit’s Community Violence Intervention (CVI) program is committed to supporting individuals at the highest risk for violence in Southwest Detroit and neighboring communities. Our work centers on building trust, creating opportunity, and interrupting cycles of harm through outreach, healing-centered support, and practical resources.
Our Services Include:
Life Skills & Workforce Development
We help participants build the skills and confidence needed to succeed:
- Job readiness and placement support
- Resume building and interview preparation
- Paid transitional work opportunities
- Entrepreneurship guidance
Case Management & Counseling
Each participant receives personalized support:
- One-on-one case management
- Substance use counseling
- Support groups and mentorship
- Resource navigation and referrals
Probation & Court Advocacy
We partner with legal systems to support successful reintegration:
- Diversion referrals and alternatives to incarceration
- Documentation of attendance and progress
- Communication with legal representatives
- Community service completion support
Specialized Programs
Freedom Ink Tattoo Removal
Gang- and prison-related tattoos often stand in the way of safety, employment, and a fresh start. Freedom Ink provides free laser tattoo removal performed by licensed dermatologists and trained medical professionals.
Offered bi-weekly at DHDC.
Services provided in partnership with Dr. Eric, the Skin & Vein Center, and Botsford Hospital volunteers.
Program Eligibility & Requirements
To participate in the Thrive Detroit CVI Program, individuals must:
Reside in one of the following ZIP codes:
- 48209 (Southwest Detroit)
- 48210 (Southwest Detroit)
- 48122 (Melvindale)
- 48218 (River Rouge)
- 48229 (Ecorse)
- 48146 (Lincoln Park)
Note: Tattoo removal services are still available to anyone outside of these areas for a $35 per session donation.
