This past January, Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC) proudly hosted its first Homebuyer Workshop of the year, welcoming more than 20 community members ready to take the next step toward homeownership.

The workshop provided participants with practical, easy-to-understand guidance on essential topics such as mortgages, pre-approval, down payment assistance, and the important role real estate professionals play throughout the homebuying process. The session was designed to help attendees feel informed, prepared, and confident as they explore their homeownership options.

We are grateful for the expertise and partnership of Choice One Bank, Ownland Capital, Gilson Home Group (Daniel Blandon), and Team Mendoza, whose representatives shared valuable insights and answered participant questions. Their support helped demystify the process and provided clarity on the steps needed to move forward responsibly and successfully.

At DHDC, homebuyer workshops are about more than purchasing a house — they are about building stability, confidence, and generational opportunity. By connecting residents with trusted partners and accessible education, DHDC continues its commitment to strengthening families and neighborhoods across Southwest Detroit.

Additional housing workshops and resources will be offered throughout the year. For more information, visit www.dhdc1.org and stay connected with us online.
